Unit Spotlight: The Wharf Boathouse

As the newest addition to the Boating in DC portfolio, The Wharf Boathouse sits within the widely-acclaimed multi-billion dollar waterfront entertainment destination, the District Wharf. The Wharf features a 6,000 person music venue named “The Anthem,” a diverse array of dining options, shops, multiple outdoor stages, as well as several hotels and condominiums. This exciting development attracts an adventurous crowd of tourists and locals, many of whom have expressed their excitement about the availability of another DC boathouse.

The Wharf Boathouse, operated by our award-winning Recreation Division, features fan favorite services such as kayak rentals, site seeing tours, sunrise yoga & fitness (on standup paddleboards), private boat storage and a water jitney (shuttle) for quick transportation across the channel. The vibrant blue boathouse sign and leaping-water fountain make it hard to miss as you enter the south end of the Wharf. To the right of the boathouse is a long, uniquely designed, beautiful wooden walkway with benches, streetlights and an eye-catching medieval-looking fire pit at its peak. The kayaks and standup paddleboards are on a dock attached to the side of this long walkway awaiting guests for their launch into the Washington Channel.

Guest Services is extremely excited about this fresh expansion of its recreational division. We look forward to seeing this new urban oasis reach its full potential as one of the ultimate Washington DC summertime activities of the 2018 season.
